Lek Ladki Yojana is the Maharashtra government's scheme for daughters, and it pays a total of Rs 1,01,000 in five stages, from the girl's birth until she turns 18. We run this website independently of the government, so for any form or application you must go to the official offices, not to us.
Because both names have "Ladki" in them, many families mix up Lek Ladki with the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana for adult women. They are separate schemes with different rules. This page sets out the Lek Ladki amounts and conditions from the official Zilla Parishad page, and then compares the two side by side.
What is Lek Ladki Yojana?
"Lek" means daughter in Marathi. The Lek Ladki Yojana supports a girl's upbringing and education by paying money at set points in her life, from birth to adulthood. It was set up by a Government Resolution (GR) issued by the state's WCD department, numbered WCD Ekavi-2022/P.No.251/Ka. and dated 30 Oct 2023.
People also search for it as lek majhi ladki yojana or maharashtra lek ladki yojana. All of these refer to the same girl child scheme. It is not the same as the monthly Rs 1,500 paid to women under Ladki Bahin.
Lek Ladki Yojana amounts at each stage
| Stage | Amount |
|---|---|
| At birth | Rs 5,000 |
| When she is in Class 1 | Rs 6,000 |
| When she is in Class 6 | Rs 7,000 |
| When she is in Class 11 | Rs 8,000 |
| When she turns 18 | Rs 75,000 |
| Total | Rs 1,01,000 |
Three of the five payments are tied to school classes rather than ages, so keep the girl's school records safe. The largest amount, Rs 75,000, is paid when she turns 18, which is about three quarters of the total.
Lek Ladki Yojana Maharashtra eligibility
According to the official Zilla Parishad Satara page, the scheme covers a girl when:
- She was born on or after 1 Apr 2023.
- Her family holds a yellow or orange ration card.
- Yearly family earnings do not cross Rs 1 lakh.
- The scheme covers one or two daughters in a family.
- The parents provide a family planning certificate.
Girls born before 1 Apr 2023 are outside the scheme, even if every other condition is met.
How Lek Ladki differs from Ladki Bahin Yojana
| Point | Lek Ladki Yojana | Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana |
|---|---|---|
| Who benefits | A girl child | Adult women aged 21 to 65 |
| How money is paid | Five stage payments | Rs 1,500 every month by DBT |
| Total or regular amount | Rs 1,01,000 over 18 years | Rs 1,500 a month |
| Income limit | Rs 1 lakh, yellow or orange ration card | Rs 2.5 lakh |
| Family limit | One or two daughters | One married and one unmarried woman |
| New applications | Ask your local office | Closed |
The two schemes cover different people and are checked under different rules, so being in one tells you nothing about the other. Ask about each separately. For the women's scheme, see our eligibility page.
Documents to keep ready
From the official page we can confirm two papers that matter most: the family's yellow or orange ration card, which shows the income group, and the family planning certificate. We have not seen the full official document list, so ask at your local Women and Child Development office or anganwadi before you visit with papers. Do not pay anyone who offers to "fast-track" the form.
Lek ladki yojana form and how to apply
Many families look for a lek ladki yojana form, or a link to an online form. The official source we rely on does not describe an online application process, and we could not confirm one. Be careful with websites offering a "lek ladki yojana online form" that ask for Aadhaar or bank details.
The safest route is to ask the anganwadi sevika or the Women and Child Development office in your taluka or district how to apply and which form to use. They can also confirm whether your daughter's birth date and your ration card qualify. Our apply online page explains why Ladki Bahin forms are no longer accepted, which is a separate matter.
Safety tips for families
Schemes that promise a large amount like Rs 1,01,000 attract fraudsters. Keep these points in mind:
- No genuine official will ask you for an OTP over the phone.
- Do not pay an agent to get your daughter enrolled or to release a stage payment.
- Do not share photos of your ration card, Aadhaar or bank passbook with strangers on WhatsApp.
- For any doubt about the women's scheme, the official women's helpline is 181; see our helpline page.
