Ladki Bahin Yojana e-KYC is the yearly Aadhaar identity verification each beneficiary of Maharashtra's Rs 1,500 monthly scheme must complete, and it now decides whether the money keeps coming. We are a privately run explainer, not a government body, so the check itself can be done only on the state's official portal and never through us.

The most important point first: the e-KYC window is closed at the moment. It was extended several times and the final correction period is over. If the state's Women and Child Development (WCD) office announces a new one, the panel above this guide will say so.

What Ladki Bahin Yojana eKYC means

KYC stands for Know Your Customer. The e in e-KYC means it is done electronically, using Aadhaar and a one time password (OTP) instead of paper forms. For the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana ekyc, the beneficiary proves who she is with an OTP on her Aadhaar linked mobile. Then the Aadhaar of her husband or father is checked with a second OTP, so the system can look at family income and government jobs. She also confirms two declarations about her family.

People use many spellings for the same thing: majhi ladki bahin yojana ekyc, ladki bahin yojana kyc, e kyc ladki bahin yojana or mazi ladki bahin yojana ekyc. They all refer to this one Aadhaar check for the Maharashtra scheme.

Why the state made it mandatory and yearly

Before e-KYC, a data check by the IT department found about 26 lakh beneficiaries who appeared ineligible. It also found 14,298 men drawing money meant for women. In response, a GR made Aadhaar based e-KYC compulsory for all beneficiaries, with the stated goal of transparency and removing those who do not qualify.

The same order said the verification has to be redone each year and that benefits would be withheld when Aadhaar authentication is not done. This is why it is called an annual e-KYC. One completed check does not cover a woman for the life of the scheme.

What the e-KYC actually checks

StepWhat it confirms
Beneficiary Aadhaar OTPShe is the real account holder and her Aadhaar is on the eligible list
Husband or father Aadhaar OTPUsed for the family income and employment check
Caste categoryShe selects her category from the list shown
Declaration on jobsNobody in the family works as a permanent or regular employee of government, a PSU, a board or a local body, or draws a government pension
Declaration on numbersThe family has no more than one married and one unmarried beneficiary

Together these let the scheme test the Rs 2.5 lakh income limit and the rule on government jobs. The exact screens are covered on our e-KYC process page.

What happens if e-KYC was not done

The effect has been large. The verification drive cut about 92 lakh names. Of those, about 62 lakh, or 67%, were dropped only because e-KYC was incomplete. News reports described about 68 lakh accounts as permanently closed once the final deadline ended.

In practice this means the monthly Rs 1,500 stops. Money already paid is not taken back, but no further installment is released, and news reports described many of these accounts as permanently closed. One report says that when a correction is verified, pending installments are paid together as a lump sum. If your money stopped and you are not sure why, the guide on missing payments covers every common reason.

Wrongly flagged women and the government job question

Many women who did finish ladki bahin yojana e kyc still lost their money. The Marathi question asking whether anyone at home holds a government job was worded in a confusing way, and more than 24 lakh women were wrongly recorded as living with a government employee. About 20 lakh of these cases later turned out to be genuine.

Others picked a wrong option by mistake and had their benefit suspended. The women's helpline 181 was trained to deal with such e-KYC problems. District collectorates and ward offices also ran special desks for disapproved cases.

What to do now while the window is shut

  • Check your e-KYC position. Entering your Aadhaar on the portal's e-KYC page shows a message that e-KYC is already completed if it was done. See how to check status.
  • Make sure the mobile number on your Aadhaar is the one you use today. An old number is a common reason the OTP never arrives.
  • Ask your bank to confirm that your account is seeded with Aadhaar for DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). e-KYC alone does not help if the account cannot receive DBT.
  • Keep your husband's or father's Aadhaar details handy, since the last round asked for them and a future round may too.
  • If you were wrongly flagged, call 181 or take your original papers to your district's WCD officer.

When will the next window open

The department has not announced a date. Because the rule says the check is yearly, a fresh round is expected at some point, but no official notice has been issued. A June to July annual window is mentioned only on one secondary website and has not been confirmed by news or the government, so we do not treat it as fact. Watch the status panel above and official announcements, and ignore forwarded messages. Our home page keeps the overall picture of the scheme in one place.

Questions people ask

Can I complete Ladki Bahin Yojana ekyc online today?

No. The last window closed and the WCD department has said claims of a restart are false. Any site offering ladki bahin yojana ekyc online right now is not genuine.

Is e-KYC needed every year?

Yes. The GR that made it compulsory requires a fresh check annually, and benefits are held back when Aadhaar authentication is missing.

Why does e-KYC need my husband's or father's Aadhaar?

His Aadhaar lets the system test family income and whether anyone in the family holds a government job. That is how the scheme confirms the family meets its limits.

I did e-KYC but my money still stopped. Why?

Common causes include a wrong answer to the government job question, or a bank account that is not seeded with Aadhaar for DBT. Call 181 or visit the district WCD office to have the record checked.

Will I get my missed installments after correction?

One news report says that once a correction is verified, pending installments are paid as a lump sum. This is not confirmed by an official notice, so ask at the helpline or WCD office about your own case.

Should I pay an agent to do my e-KYC?

No. There is no paid route, and the process uses an OTP that only you should see. Anyone asking for money or your OTP is likely a fraudster.
