The so-called ladki bahin loan yojana is not a statewide loan scheme; it is a specific offer from Mumbai Bank (the Mumbai District Central Co-operative Bank) of zero-interest business loans, each capped at Rs 1 lakh, for Ladki Bahin beneficiaries. We are an independent guide with no tie to the government or the bank, so any loan request has to be made with the bank itself.

Because many videos and messages talk about a "Ladki Bahin loan" as if every woman in the state can get one, this page keeps strictly to what has been reported and flags what is not confirmed. For the monthly Rs 1,500 benefit itself, the most recent confirmed installment appears in the update box above.

What the ladki bahin loan yojana actually is

Mumbai Bank, a district central co-operative bank, launched a loan product for women who are beneficiaries of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. The loans are meant for starting or growing a small business. The borrower pays no interest. Instead, the interest cost is borne by the government through its corporations.

This is a bank offer linked to the scheme, not a part of the Ladki Bahin benefit itself. The Rs 1,500 monthly payment and this loan are two separate things, and you do not need a loan to keep receiving the benefit.

Who can get this loan

Going by the reports, three conditions stand out:

  1. You must be a Ladki Bahin beneficiary. The loan was announced for women already enrolled in the scheme.
  2. You must apply as a group. Women form groups of 5 to 10 members. A single woman applying alone does not match the reported design.
  3. It runs through Mumbai Bank in Mumbai. It is limited to this bank, so women in other districts cannot use it through their local bank.

If you are unsure whether you are still a beneficiary, check your status first on our status check page.

How to ask about the loan

There is no online form for this loan on the Ladki Bahin portal that we know of. The practical route is:

  1. Talk to other Ladki Bahin beneficiaries near you and form a group of 5 to 10 women who share a business idea or want to run small businesses side by side.
  2. Visit a Mumbai Bank branch together and ask about the zero-interest loan for Ladki Bahin beneficiaries.
  3. Ask the bank for the full list of documents, the repayment schedule and what happens if a member cannot pay.
  4. Get every condition in writing before anyone signs.

What is not confirmed about the Ladki Bahin loan

  • No statewide scheme. We found no report of a Ladki Bahin loan for women across Maharashtra. The confirmed offer is limited to Mumbai Bank.
  • Deduction from Rs 1,500. Some websites claim loan repayments are cut from the monthly benefit. The news report on the launch does not say this, so we leave it as unconfirmed. Ask the bank directly.
  • Loan against the benefit. We have seen no official offer of an advance or personal loan against future Rs 1,500 payments.
  • Individual loans. The reported design is for groups, not single borrowers.

Beware of fake Ladki Bahin loan offers

A loan with zero interest is exactly the kind of promise fraudsters use. Be wary of:

  • apps or links that promise an instant "Ladki Bahin loan" to anyone in the state;
  • anyone asking for a processing fee, insurance fee or advance payment before a loan is sanctioned;
  • callers asking for your OTP, ATM PIN or Aadhaar to "check loan eligibility".

A genuine co-operative bank will deal with you at the branch. If you are cheated or threatened, report it, and for scheme problems call the women's helpline 181; see our helpline page.

Keep your Ladki Bahin benefit active first

Since the loan is for beneficiaries, it only helps if you are still on the list. Many women were removed during verification because e-KYC (the Aadhaar-based identity check) was not done, or because of income or family rules. The account must be your own and Aadhaar-seeded, since DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer, the state's payment route) relies on it. Our e-KYC and eligibility pages explain the conditions.
