Ladki Bahin Yojana, officially the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, is the Maharashtra government scheme that pays eligible women Rs 1,500 every month straight into their bank account. Ladki Bahin Yojanaa is an independent guide run by private writers, and every application, login or correction happens only on the government portal or at a government office.
Right now new registrations are closed and the e-KYC window is also closed. If you are already a beneficiary, the useful things you can still do are to check your status, keep your bank account linked to Aadhaar, and watch for official news. Each page here opens with a status panel, and that panel carries the most recent installment we have been able to confirm.
Ladki Bahin Yojana today: what is open and what is closed
Many women ask us one thing first: is Ladki Bahin Yojana closed? The scheme itself is running. The Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister have both said it will not be shut down, and the latest budget set aside money for it. What has closed are the two entry doors.
| Item | Position now |
|---|---|
| Monthly benefit | Rs 1,500, still the same |
| New registration | Closed. The Women and Child Development (WCD) department has said it has started no new website or new application process |
| e-KYC | Closed after several extensions. Claims that it has restarted were called false by the department |
| Rs 2,100 per month | Not implemented. A viral GR about it was declared fake |
| Latest installment | Shown in the status panel above |

What the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is
Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana means the Chief Minister's My Beloved Sister scheme. You will also see it written as mazi ladki bahin yojana, majhi ladki bahin yojana or simply ladki bahini yojana. All of these are the same Maharashtra ladki bahin yojana. It was approved by the state government and started paying from July of its launch year. The first two months were credited together around Raksha Bandhan.
The idea is simple. A woman from a low or middle income family gets a fixed sum each month in her own bank account, with no middleman. The money is hers to use for the household, health, children or savings. At its peak about 2.43 crore women were enrolled. After a long verification drive, about 1.65 to 1.66 crore women were receiving payments in recent months, according to news reports.
Who qualifies for the scheme
A woman can benefit if she meets all of these conditions:
- She lives in Maharashtra.
- She is between 21 and 65 years old. One older report mentions 60 as the upper limit, but most current sources say 65.
- Her family's yearly income is not more than Rs 2.5 lakh.
- She is married, widowed, divorced, abandoned (parityakta) or destitute (niradhar). A single unmarried woman from each family is also covered.
- She has a bank account in her own name, seeded with Aadhaar and DBT enabled.
A family is left out if any member pays income tax, holds a regular or permanent government, PSU or board job, draws a government pension, is a current or former MP or MLA, or owns a four-wheeler (a tractor does not count). Contract and outsourced workers earning up to Rs 2.5 lakh are still eligible. Within one family, the money can go to no more than two women: one married, one unmarried. Our eligibility checker walks through each rule, and the documents page lists the papers used at the time of applying, including the hamipatra (undertaking form).
How the money reaches your account
Every rupee goes by DBT. DBT means the government sends the money directly to the bank account that is seeded (linked) with your Aadhaar through the national payments system. No cash is handed out and no agent is involved.
Installments are usually for one month at a time, but the timing is not fixed to a calendar day. Sometimes two months have been paid together, for example a combined credit of Rs 3,000. A woman who already gets a smaller amount from another government scheme receives only the difference. About 7.7 lakh women on the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi, which already pays them Rs 1,000 a month, get Rs 500 under this scheme so that the total is Rs 1,500.
To see whether a credit has arrived, check the SMS from your bank, your passbook, or your bank app. Our installment date page explains why the dates move and how to confirm a payment.
e-KYC: the yearly Aadhaar check
e-KYC means electronic Know Your Customer. Here it is an Aadhaar OTP check that confirms you are the real beneficiary and that your family still meets the rules. The state made it mandatory through a GR after data checks found about 26 lakh beneficiaries who looked ineligible and 14,298 men drawing the benefit. It must be repeated every year, and payments are withheld if it is not done.
The deadline was extended more than once, and the final correction window has now ended. About 62 lakh women were dropped only because their e-KYC was incomplete. If a fresh window opens, it will be announced by the WCD department, not by a forwarded message. Read our e-KYC explainer for the rules and the step by step e-KYC process to be ready.
If your installment has stopped
The verification drive removed about 92 lakh names in total. The biggest reasons were incomplete e-KYC, income above the limit, a government employee in the family, receiving another state pension, too many beneficiaries in one family, and age above 65. Separately, over 24 lakh women were wrongly marked as having a government employee at home because of a confusing e-KYC question, and about 20 lakh of them were later found genuine.
- First confirm on your bank statement that no credit came.
- Check that your account is Aadhaar seeded and DBT enabled at your branch.
- Check your application and e-KYC status on the official portal.
- Phone 181, the women's helpline, or walk into your Anganwadi, the tehsil office or the district WCD office carrying original documents.
Money already paid to women later found ineligible will not be recovered. See payment not received, status check and helpline and complaints for detail.
Applications, the official website and fake links
When the scheme opened, women applied on the online portal ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in, on the Nari Shakti Doot app, or through offline forms collected by Anganwadi sevikas, Setu Suvidha Kendras, Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendras, gram sevaks, ward offices and ASHA workers. All of these routes are now closed for new names.
People search for majhi ladki bahin yojana gov in, ladki bahin yojana maharashtra gov in, or a www form of the same words. There is only one real address in all these cases, ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in, and it is run by the state. Any other site or link that says registration is open again is fake and may try to take your OTP or money. Our pages on how applications worked and the Nari Shakti Doot app cover the old routes.
The Rs 2,100 promise, bonuses and the budget
Raising the amount to Rs 2,100 was an election promise. It has not been implemented. A message claiming a GR had raised it was declared false by the government. The state budget for the current year allocated Rs 26,500 crore to the scheme, about 31% lower than the revised figure of Rs 38,310 crore for the year before, and it announced no hike.
We have no confirmed news of any special ladki bahin yojana diwali bonus either. Treat such claims the same way as the Rs 2,100 rumour: wait for an announcement from the WCD department and check the status panel above, which we update when something is confirmed.
Keeping yourself safe
Because so many women depend on this money, fraudsters copy its name. Remember three rules. Do not read out or forward an OTP to a caller or texter, even one claiming to be from the government. Never pay an agent to restart e-KYC, add your name or release a stopped installment, because no such paid service exists. And open only the official portal address, typed by hand, instead of tapping on forwarded links. If something feels wrong, call 181 and ask.
Questions people ask
Is Ladki Bahin Yojana still available?
Yes, the scheme is running and eligible women still receive Rs 1,500 a month. The state leadership has said it will not be shut down. New applications are closed, though, so only women already enrolled and verified are being paid.
Can I apply for Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana now?
No. According to the WCD department, no fresh application process or new website has been launched. Messages saying registration is open again are fake.
How much money does a woman get each month?
The benefit is Rs 1,500 a month. A woman already getting a smaller amount from another government scheme gets only the difference, such as Rs 500 for Namo Shetkari beneficiaries.
Has the amount been raised to Rs 2,100?
No. The hike has not been implemented, and the government called a viral GR about it false. The budget for the current year did not announce any increase.
When is the next payment date?
There is no fixed date each month, and no date is official until the department announces a release. Our status panel, placed above the article, lists the most recent installment we have confirmed and any official word on the next one.
Can I still do e-KYC?
Not at present. The last window has closed and claims of a restart were denied. Because e-KYC is a yearly requirement, keep your Aadhaar linked mobile number active so you are ready if a new window is announced.
Who do I contact if my money stopped?
Ring the women's helpline 181. You can also go in person to your Anganwadi, the tehsil office or the WCD officer for your district, taking original papers along. You can also read our payment not received guide.
